Outline for the festival

"The Town of Photography” Higashikawa

In June 1985, Higashikawa was declared the only “Town of Photography” in the world, with the aim of using international
exchange and photography culture to open the town to the world and share the harmony between nature and culture
uniquely found there.

Purpose for organizing the festival

Since being declared the Town of Photography 30 years ago, “The Culture Capital of Photography” Higashikawa aims to
make the town a place of balance and harmony for the future. As the center of photo culture for people across the world,
we organize this festival to encourage students to develop friendships through photo culture and promote international
understanding.
