「写真の町」東川町とは？ / "The Town of Photography” Higashikawa
東川町は、1985年6月、「国際的な交流と写真文化を通じ、世界に開かれた自然と文化が調和する活力と潤いに満ちた町づくり」を目指し、世界でも例をみない「写真の町」を宣言しました。
In June 1985, Higashikawa was declared the only “Town of Photography” in the world, with the aim of using international exchange and photography culture to open the town to the world and share the harmony between nature and culture uniquely found there.
高校生国際交流写真フェスティバルの開催目的は？ / Purpose for organizing the festival
写真の町宣言から３０年を迎えた「写真文化首都」写真の町東川町が、未来に向かって均衡ある適疎な町づくりを目指し、写真文化の中心として、写真文化と世界の人々を繋ぐため、次代を担う世界の高校生同士が写真文化を通じて、会話を深め、友情の輪を拡大し、世界の恒久平和を願うことを目的としています。
“The Culture Capital of Photography” Higashikawa aims to make the town a place of balance and harmony for the future. As the center of photo culture for people across the world, we started to organize this festival to encourage students to develop friendships through photo culture and promote international understanding in cereblation of 30th anniversary of declaration of the Town of Photography.
高校生国際交流写真フェスティバルの開催概要は？/ Outline for the festival
東川町と交流のある国・地域から、それぞれ作品(組写真)を募集し、国・ 地域ごとに作品審査を行います。
審査を通過した海外選抜校20校（各国・地域1校ずつ）及び日本選抜校2校がフェスティバルへ参加（「写真の町」東川町で開催される フェスティバルに招聘）となります。
※海外選抜校の決定方法は、国・地域により異なります。
※日本選抜校2校（全国枠1校・道内枠1校）は、別途主催者の指定する方法により選抜をさせていただきます。

※指定都市・郡・町以外からの応募はできませんので、ご了承ください。
※国・地域によっては、現地コーディネーターによる選考となり、通常の募集方法とは異なりますので、直接現地コーディネーターへお問い合わせください。

We are looking for works (a series of photos) from the countries and areas listed in application guidelines, where we currently have established international exchanges.
The preliminary selection will be held in each country and area.
The 20 selected schools from overseas (one school per country and area) and 2 selected schools from Japan will participate in the festival in Higashikawa, the "Town of Photography".
2 Japanese schools (one from Hokkaido and one from outside of Hokkaido) will be selected with a selection organized by the committee.

*The committee accepts application only from the city, county, and town that are listed in application guidelines.
*The selection process of preliminary selection is different depending on the countries and area.
